KY DOI Releases Bulletin 21-002 on 2021 Legislation

The Kentucky Department of Insurance released Bulletin 2021-002 with summaries of insurance legislation passed by the Kentucky General Assembly in the 2019 legislative session. Bills related to property and casualty or life insurance included in the bulletin are:

  • House Bill 75 – An Act Relating to Living Organ Donation (Prohibits refusing to issue or declining to renew a life insurance policy for living organ donors based on that donation.)
  • House Bill 196 – An Act Relating to the Prohibition of Patriot Penalties in Insurance (Prohibits refusing to issue an auto policy or increasing premiums of a military member who was uninsured during the period of deployment.)
  • House Bill 250 – An Act Relating to the Regulation of Travel Insurance

Listed as additional bills of interest in the bulletin were the following:

  • House Bill 273 – An Act relating to public records (Restricts gruesome autopsy or photos from a tragedy from being public records.)
  • SB 5 – An Act Relating to Emergencies (Provides liability protection for businesses that follow protocols during a pandemic.)
  • SB 71 – An Act Relating to Motor Vehicles (Towing Reforms)*
  • Senate Bill 215 – An Act Relating to Transportation (Allows additional road use by some ATVs using recreational trails on a pilot basis.)
