KY DOI Releases Bulletin 2017-03 on 2017 Legislation

The Kentucky Department of Insurance released Bulletin 2017-03 with summaries of insurance legislation passed by the Kentucky General Assembly in the 2017 legislative session. Bills related to property and casualty or life insurance included in the bulletin are:

  • SB 73– Define autocycles as a type of motorcycle
  • SB 114– Increase the Property Damage Liability minimum coverage for automobile insurance from $10,000 to $25,000
  • SB 128 – Roofing contractors*
  • HB 112 – Clarify the ownership of dogs*
  • HB 153 – Compensation of insurance producers for services performed in relation to a premium finance loan
  • HB 163 – Motor vehicle salvage titles
  • HB 191 – Multiple insurance-related provision*
  • HB 207 – Model law changes related to risk retention groups
  • HB 215 – Motor vehicle accident reports*
  • HB 242– Department of Insurance reorganization
  • HB 294 – Disclosure of damages by motor vehicle dealers
  • HB 306 – Exemption from workers’ compensation for some religious organizations
  • HB 377 – Workers’ Compensation Funding Commission
