Driving at any speed requires the full attention of the driver because so many things can happen unexpectedly – another driver swerves toward you, a deer darts from the side of the road, or weather conditions make the road hazardous. If a driver’s attention is elsewhere at a critical point, an accident is even more likely.
Many states have enacted laws in recent years to deal with distracted driving. The most common distractions discussed are the use of cell phones and texting while driving. These are not the only distractions but they seem to be growing the fastest among all of them.
