Amicus Briefs

IIK will file an amicus curiae (friend of the court) brief in cases which could have an impact on insurance law in Kentucky. Typically, we submit briefs in cases coming out of the KY Court of Appeals which have been granted discretionary review by the KY Supreme Court. However, we will consider submitting a brief in other venues when the circumstances warrant.

We have developed a set of procedures for the filing of amicus curiae briefs in cases which merit IIK involvement and we have set aside funds for that purpose. Members and non-members may submit an application by sending it to us at [email protected]. The first step is for an application to be reviewed by our Amicus Committee and then by the IIK Board if approved by the Committee.
